WEB David Schumacher, the son of ex-Formula One racer Ralf Schumacher and nephew of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, has suffered a broken spine after an accident at the DTM race at Hockenheim in Germany on Saturday.

Schumacher, who was cleared of fractures just days after the accident, has since been diagnosed with the injury, his father revealed.

The 23-year-old is currently competing in the 2023 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) with Mercedes. He was involved in a collision with another driver during the race, and his Mercedes was left stranded on the track.

Schumacher was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and his father said he is now "stable" but will require further medical attention.
